What Happens in Vegas...

Written by Alex Pinto

Hey everyone.

I had a wonderful time at the conferences last week and that seems to have been a feeling shared by all who attended them this year.

The overall response to the project was amazing, and beyond what we would have imagined at first. Both BlackHat and DefCon had their rooms full of people, and after the first 15 or so minutes, it was difficult getting in.

As a friend of mine put it, it is almost unreal that a talk about defending (not attacking or hacking) with so much math in it would be standing room only in a Sunday afternoon in DefCon.

At BSidesLV, there was a very seasoned and experienced audience who could connect with the material and the opportunities machine learning can bring to our industry, which led to some interesting discussions after the end of the presentation.

If you would like to catch up with the slides (and video) from the presentations, here they are:

  • Using Machine Learning to support Information Security - slides - video
  • Defending Networks with Incomplete Information: A Machine Learning Approach - slides

Now the conferences are over we will be publishing continuous information on the results of the research here on the blog. Sign up for log sharing to make sure you are a part of it!
